Small Steps Pre-School is on the site of North Kidlington Primary School.
We are a pre-school for children aged 2-4 years old and have both term-time and all-year round places available.

Pre-School Information
Small Steps Pre-School will offer all the same learning and play opportunities that Small Steps Day Nursery offers, but on the site of North Kidlington Primary School. We will have the added extra of being on a school site and working in partnership with them.

Hours – preschool will be open from 8:00am – 5:45pm (with handover time up until 6pm)

We will have both term time and all year-round spaces. You will need to tell us which type of place you would like and will only be able to change in September, January, or April, due to the funding claim periods. Changes will be subject to ratios and staffing numbers and cannot be guaranteed.

Meals – Small Steps Pre-school will offer breakfast, snacks, and teatime meals. We will require you to provide a packed lunch.

Key Person System – Small Steps Pre-school will use the key person system to aid attachments and provide a secure learning environment.

Nursery Story App – We will use the Nursery Story App to provide you with details of your child’s activities at pre-school.

Activities and outings into the community – the preschool will take advantage of the community facilities we have in Kidlington. We will be taking the children on visits to the library and park and continue our partnership with Mini Professional Dance Academy.

Charges
From September 2025 any hours used over your funded hours will be charged at £7.00 per hour with a maximum of £66.00 per day.
We do not charge for meals or snacks and these are included in the price of the sessions. We ask that you provide a packed lunch. We will charge for any extra optional activities that your child takes part in, such as Dance Class and you will be notified of this. The optional dance class is £3.00 per week, term-time only.
Funding through the government 15 or 30 hours schemes will be available and will depend on if your place is term time or all-year-round.
For term time only places the maximum funding hours per week is 30 or 15 hours.
For all-year round places the maximum funded hours per week is 23 hours 45 minutes and 12 hours.
Your funding entitlement is flexible and can be used across any of our sessions. If you would only like to use your funding entitlement then we have options of how you can do this, so please speak to us for more information.
Meet the Small Steps Pre-School Staff
All our staff receive training in different aspects of safeguarding and child protection as well as First Aid and other specialisms.
